January 2026 - Letter Transcription
Hello Cardiff gang, let's see if I can still typewrite :D
January was very slow, dull and boring until the last few days. I had a French speaking exam that went ok, a load of groupwork stuff to redraft, an online open exam and a closed French exam. It all happened, I did some revision and I'm fairly confident I passed things :D
Having no radio, course or job as reasons to leave the house however led to me being very bored and seeing far too much of my housemates. I hate whoever invented January in uni, but on the plus side I didn't spend much.
After the 27th (last exam) it did get more fun. Work reopened so I saw people again and will hopefully make it through this month financially. Radio meetings also started again and I've been on a few pubs trips with that lot. I also went to a music room and made some noise with a coursemate, and we went on a day trip to Leeds as a flat. That was fun, mostly as there were 8 of us conveniently split into pairs (3 couples, me and Katherine). We didn't see loads of the city, but visited many shops and I dragged them to a craft beer place and got halves of 6 interesting things for everyone to try. Money well spent according to me. One of my flatmates has a boyfriend in the army who also came with us, and will spend infinite amounts of money if he asks him to. We all agree it's not good, but not my circus, not my monkeys.
I also did my first radio show :D it was called "the Jinglemaster's funk hour" and generally went quite well. The whole flat listened as well as seemingly my whole family.
Let's try that again. The radio show went well. I played funk music, read food packaging and discussed the etymology of the word funk. At one point, I was discussing when it was used in a racist way and there was unfortunate silent few seconds after I said the words "black people" as my bed ended...
I'm going to give up on typewriting here. Hope all is well with exams, semester 2 and the like.
Apologies for the dying typewriter,
Ben
Suplementrary material:
The origami dogs are from Katherine - yesterday she filled every kitchen cupboard of mine with them, along with my fridge shelf and a formation outside my door. She thinks it's hilarious because I'm scared of dogs, and it's keeping her entertained post exams. Unrelated, today she took a hubcap from the side of the road. We now have a pet hubcap (from a fiat 500).
To keep Liam Jones updated on the girl who I somewhat ashamedly "merry christmas"'d my way into the life of, we went into town and drank on Wednesday. It was lovely, but she's I reckon 89% Lesbian (story of my life) and there was legitimate fear in her eyes when I was brave enough to say I wouldn't be unhappy if it was a date. However she did assume I was bisexual, not gay, and therefore there is progress. I will probably see her again at some point.
Did Garry's car die? I know it is no longer on the road but was it written off or did he just scrap it?
Ok I think that's it now
